Text Box: The Wildcat Trail

       

             

                   

                    Is a waymarked path , using wooden signs with the wildcat logo

 

                     Is  not a surfaced path.   

 

                    

                    May sometimes be muddy and wet and, in the summer,  the walker will encounter tall   

                    vegetation.  Although the managers keep the path clear,   the  Trail is meant to give

                    the walker an experience of  the natural  environment through the seasons.

                  

                   Passes through privately owned land, including part of two estates, two  crofting

                   communities  and along  the edge of Newtonmore Golf Course.

 

 

                    Has a highest point of  320 m. The greatest  ascent is 60m.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


                   Has one steep ascent, from

                   the banks of the  River Calder

                   up to the path  along the Calder Gorge.

                   There is a handrail.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

                   Passes through stiles, kissing gates and farm gates.  Please close all gates unless they have               

                   clearly been fastened open by the  landowner.     

                             

                   Crosses a B class road at two points

 

                  Is not designed for use by cyclists.  There are many kissing gates and stiles in  fences designed to

                  protect young trees from livestock and rabbit damage.

must be undertaken at the walker’s own risk.  The Newtonmore Community

Woodland & Development Trust cannot  accept legal responsibility for the

condition of paths, bridges, gates, stiles, fences, or the presence of
